Virgin. Sex addict. Daredevil. Alcoholic. Smartass … Jackass. Her five friends are about to be filmed. Reality TV, be prepared.
Rose Calloway thought she had everything under control. At twenty-three, she’s a Princeton graduate, an Academic Bowl champion, a fashion designer and the daughter of a Fortune 500 mogul. But with a sex addict as a sister and roommate, nothing comes easy.
After accepting help from a producer, Rose agrees to have her life filmed for a reality television show. The Hollywood exec is her last chance to revive her struggling fashion line, and boundaries begin to blur as she’s forced to make nice with a man who always has his way.
Twenty-four-year-old Connor Cobalt is a guy who bulldozes weak men. He’s confident, smart-as-hell and lives with his equally ambitious girlfriend, Rose Calloway. Connor has to find a way to protect Rose without ruining the show. Or else the producer will get what Connor has always wanted—Rose’s virginity.
This New Adult Romance can be described as Friends meets The Real World. Expect fist fights, drugs, sex of varying degrees, crude humor and competitive alpha males.
I claim Conner as my book boyfriend! I also claim Rose as my book girl-crush! They are both mine and there will be no negotiations. None! Kiss the Sky has also earned a spot on my top favorite reads of 2014. Love them, love the story, love it all! When I bought Kiss the Sky, I honestly didn’t realize it was going to be …. hot. I knew it was about a group of rich friends and siblings going on a reality show, Real World style. Oh, but did I ever get more than I expected!
Connor, oh Connor! I am in love! I am super picky when it comes to book boyfriends. Yes, I may love a male character and all, but when it comes to swoony-want-to-marry-them-even-though-I’ve-sworn-off-marriage type of love, no, that is a rarity. I submit to no man but Connor … yeah, I’d do anything he wants. I’m not usually attracted like that to such an alpha male, but the way he is with Rose is beyond sexy! The way he’s always cool and collected, getting the better of people with his wits … that’s such a frikkin turn-on! Then there is Rose. Man, I love her. She is extremely intelligent, and will rip a dude’s balls off if you mess with her or her sisters. She can be one scary bitch, but I mean that in the best way possible! The fact that it’s told in duel point-of-view, allows us to fully appreciate both of them.
Honestly, it’s because of their relationship that put Kiss the Sky over the top for me. Connor completely respects Rose and lets her fight her own battles, but is there when she needs it. He finds her strong, competitive personality sexy. Their love-hate dynamic is the best! And the way they know each other so well, and are 100% secure in their relationship is … ugh, I just love it! Oh my gosh, and when they spoke French to each other … *swoon* … especially during the lap dance scene. Seriously, my heart is racing just thinking about it.
The other characters were such a delight, too! I didn’t realize until after I read this that Lily and Loren have their own series, but it’s totally separate from this book. Lily and Loren were cute together, and we see their struggle with their addictions as a couple. I adore Ryke and his potty mouth (haha). Where Connor is the guy who is calm and in control, Ryke will kick some ass in an instant. And then we have Daisy the daredevil. Oh boy, I loved this girl, but her lifestyle at her age pained me sometimes. The ages range from 20-24, except for 17-year-old Daisy. But then I’d remember what I was doing at her age … so yeah, we won’t get into that.
Kiss the Sky may be about these people on a reality show, but I love how it’s done. We get the story from Rose and Connor’s perspectives, so it’s always ‘behind the scenes’ of the show. And really, it is so much more than filming and such. It’s about their relationships and what’s going on in their lives, very character driven. As I mentioned earlier, it gets hot at times. There are some toe-curling sex scenes that took me by surprise, but no way am I complaining about that.
So let me reiterate, I loved this book to death! I know I will be revisiting Connor and Rose in the future many times, because I can’t get enough of them. Call me a freak, but never have I wanted to make out with a book so bad.
When he looks up at me, he says, “Thank God for Connor, right?” He tries to play off the pain that contorts his face.
“God always has a way of stealing my credit,” Connor says.
——————————-
I bolt upright and spring off the bed, grabbing a black silk robe. I slip it on and knot the tie at my waist. Another bang hits the wall hard. My heart leaps to my throat.
“You should stay here,” he tells me, zipping his black slacks.
I glare.
“It was worth a try.” He places a hand on the small of my back. “After you.”
———————————
I near him, gritting my teeth. “You are grasping for drama. Literally pulling at anything ridiculous you can latch onto. Shall I educate you then?” He opens his mouth but I don’t give him the chance to refute. “I’m secure enough in my relationship with Rose that I don’t bite off the cocks of men who wrong her or call her a bitch. She’s more than capable of biting them off herself. I’m here, now, in your face because that girl in the living room has no teeth.”
Becca and Krista are amazing authors. I have loved there books so far so I will have to add this one to my list.
This was my first experience with them, but it will NOT be my last.
Anddd this is the second NA I’ve put on my wishlist this morning 🙂
Well read this one first! lol
Dang…. I’m running to get this. SOLD!!! 😀
Oh, Kristin … get it NOW.
Alright if you are already claiming rights to the characters and putting this in your top ten, then I know this is a book I need to read.
Ali, you must read it. Just keep your paws off of Connor. 😀
I make no such promises! 😛
PffffffFFfFFFFFFFtt… whatever.
You are so funny. 🙂 I think we have all had a book like this. lol I will be adding this, right now!
Don’t just add it, read it! 😀
*le sigh* fine you can have them..but Dash and Rowdy are mine. hehe. Fantastic review your enthusiasm and love of this book just shines through. It is quite contagious. I added it to my wishlist.
Deal! Connor is … just … *shivers* … yeah. lol. Him and Rose together … oh lordy.
I’ve heard so much about this infamous Connor from a number of bloggers, so I really need to meet him! I think you might have a battle on your hands for dibs on Connor of course, but for now I will let you have him since I haven’t met him yet 😉 Once I do though, all bets might be off. Just saying:) Glad to see he’s found another fan in you, I really can’t wait to read this book!
Really? I’ve only read one review for this book which is what made me buy it, but I don’t even remember what the blogger said. Part of me wants to read other people gush over it and Connor, but mostly I want to stay in my private bubble with it. I will cut someone for Connor (and Rose) – lol!
I wouldn’t pick this book up from the blurb but your mad gushing about the characters is making my curious… and yes, I’ll take note you called dibs on them 🙂
Holly hell, you need to read it, Braine. NEED to.
The way he’s always cool and collected, getting the better of people with his wits … that’s such a frikkin turn-on! Haha, yes! I haven’t read this, but I was reading a friends review of Addicted to You, and she was surprised of the depth in the characters, which it seems has continued to carry on with this series. And, if I’m honest, Connor sounds yum. 😉
I will definitely be reading the Addicted series next; I already bought he 1st book. I also know that Daisy will have her own book soon, too. Yes, Connor is most certainly a whole lot of YUM! 😀
Hahaha! Love that you call dibs on the MCs! This is definitely going on my list!
Well keep hat in mind once you read this, because 1) they ARE mine; and 2) you need to read this soon! 😀
I am now adding this to my list because of your enthusiasm and I usually agree with you on books. Shaking fist, just what I needed another book to read! Hope you didn’t get flooded and washed away over the weekend!
Yes, add and read it now! Haha, no, the flooding was mostly down in southern Cali; I’m up in the San Joaquin Valley. Sorry to disappoint you by not getting washed away. 😛
LOL! Loved your enjoyment of the book. That right there sold me on it. Will be adding it to the wishlist now! 😀
You for sure need to read this. EVERYONE does! 😀
This doesn’t seem like my usual kind of book, but I’ve read a few glowing reviews, so I’m getting more and more tempted to try it.
Let me tempt you some more … lol.
Wow, it sounds like I need to meet Connor and Rose! They sound like they have a fantastic (and hot) relationship, and I can already tell from your description of him that Connor is my type of book boyfriend (don’t worry, I won’t fight you for him…yet :D). Awesome review!
Oh, Lauren, you MUST read this. I love Connor and Rose’s relationship so much!
Lap Dance Scene?!!! This book sounds H-O-T! I love alpha males, and it’s even better when they’re witty. I love books with the whole love-hate dynamic too, and Rose sounds awesome! I love it when the female character is independent, strong, and can take care of herself! Awesome Review Christy!!!
Oh lordy, Lindy … I have to fan myself any time I think about it. You seriously HAVE to read it.
I’m so glad you liked it! I LOVED IT TOO! You definitely need to read Lily & Lo’s story. They have two books and one novella with another book and novella on the way. Rose & Conner are in their books too. I just love all these characters.
I got the book when I saw it on your blog. I already bought the first book in the Addiction series and would read it just for glimpses of Rose and Connor. I know Daisy has her own book coming up too. I’m so damn excited.
This book got a lot of lipstick marks from you, huh? I’ve had books that I wanted to make out with because they’re just that good! I think the fascination with reality TV is too overrated, the real things happen behind the scenes! That’s why you enjoyed this. Fab review!
Oh yeah, lots of lipstick marks! 😀
Going by the blurb this is not my kind book, but damn girl if you not persuasive! Another book added to my TRB per your enthusiasms 😉
I don’t know about that … you might actually like this one. 😉
Crap Christy, I already wanted to read these books, but you have me dying here. You are the most passionate reader I’ve come across for Kiss the Sky, other than my friend Siiri. Great review!
I hope my passion persuades you to read it soon. lol
Glad to hear you found this book amazing Christie! I love Becca & Kristy’s blog and great to hear they can write an amazing story. Sounds like they’ve written a pretty swoon worthy guy here hey? And I kind of like how Rose is a strong woman! Sounds totally HOT I’ll have to pick it up once in the mood!
Oh, I will have to stalk their blog!
UGHHH I remember reading an intereview with both of the authors and it was super fun to read and they made the book sound a million times more interesting with their fun personalities. Now with this review in tow I’m even more excited about it. I’m not usually a fan of NA, but I’ve read some brilliant ones and this books sounds like it would join those greats. Added it to my TBR!
Oh really? I’ll have to hunt down that interview. This book has really been my only experience with the authors and their writing, but it’s made a huge impression. I’m picky about NA, and this one wasn’t all angsty and stuff. Rose and Connor have a relationship I can be jealous of.
wow, sounds like one hot read! I have to admit, I’m a bit curious. I don’t really read a lot of romances, but I like that both main characters are awesome.
It’s not necessarily a romance like ‘oh swoon, my heart is a flutter’ – lol. They have a relationship that I love so much, though.
Why do I have this image of you dancing around the room with the book clutched to your chest and making kissy faces? *winks*
Because that’s pretty much what I did. lol!
This really didn’t sound like my type of book until I read your review, Christy, and now I’m pretty much sold on this. I won’t (okay, I maybe won’t) steal Connor from you, but I am already loving him! He sounds fantastic. As well as Rose….but Connor. Man, what a great duo!
I just want to give warning that there are scenes with explicated sex. But yeah, I love these characters!
I am really struggling with this one. I couldn’t get into the Lily and Loren story in Addicted to You so I have no idea how this one would make me feel. I know that people keep praising it a lot, so maybe I will give it a try.
I haven’t read Lily and Lo’s books yet. They are in this, but it is never from their POV. Please give Rose and Connor a chance, they’re totally different breeds from Lily and Lo. 😀
FANTASTIC REVIEW!!! I have actually read Lily and Lo’s books and I loved them!! Their addictions tore me apart and I loved watching them turn their lives around! Connor has always been a great support to Rose throughout those books, I’m so glad we get to see them more closely now! And Ryke…. yep, I like him a lot!! Can’t wait to read his book!
I am seriously amazed that Becca and Krista can keep blowing us away, I need to get this book now!!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
I didn’t even know about their series until after I finished KtS. Then, I didn’t realize Conner and Rose were in it. So now I’m dying to read that series just for glimpses of them. I miss those two … -sigh-
