The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
How is everyone’s Christmas shopping going? I’m officially finished! It seems to get harder and harder to shop for my son as he gets older. He just needs to stop getting older. Problem solved.
Thank goodness the freeze we were having here is finally letting up. We were running 15° below normal for this time, which would be detrimental to citrus and other crops if all of the men and women weren’t out there around the clock trying to keep the groves at least 2-3 degrees warmer. They rock!
On the Blog
- These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner – Review. Slow beginning but great last half.
- The Distance Between Us by Kasie West – Review. Loved it so much! ♥

Books Received
I got sucked in by some good deals on Amazon this week.

Thoroughbreds and Trailer Trash by Bev Pettersen – Free on Amazon at the time of putting this post together.
North Pole Reform School by Jaimie Admans – Purchased for $0.99.
In One Person by John Irving – Purchased for $1.99 as an Amazon weekly(monthly?) deal. I haven’t read any Irving in years, and had this on my wishlist.

The Outlaw Demon Wails by Kim Harrison – Purchased for $1.99. I’ve already read this and had the hard copy, but I’ve been buying the digital editions as each book in the series goes on sale.
Must Love Otters by Eliza Gordon – Purchased. It sounds so cute & fun.
Racing Savannah by Miranda Kenneally – Purchesed and read as soon as I downloaded it. ♥

Hope you all have a great week!
Wow, I’ve never even thought about all of the farmers working to keep their winter crops alive. They do rock! I’ll have to check out your review of These Broken Stars, it’s been everywhere lately.
Gotta love farmers! And ranchers! And their tractors! lol.
You should tell your son to stop already. 😉 I’ve still got a bit of shopping left to go, but they’re all small things, so it shouldn’t take too long. Racing Savannah is a book that I definitely plan to get around to. I picked up Catching Jordan recently and had fun with it. Enjoy the rest of your books! 🙂
I really wish it were so simple. *sigh*
Even though each book in the series can be read as a standalone, it’s so much more fun reading them in order.
Oh man… I still need to read Miranda Kenneally’s series! I own the first one and I know everyone loves it. Someday I’ll be able to get to it. It’s just so hard to keep track of my Kindle books 🙁
Enjoy the Christmas weather 😉 Thank you farmers – I like my produce affordable 😉 (I’m so bad…)
READ IT, Kristin! I’m telling you, they are super quick to read.
Haha – yep. My friend told me some of the mandarin crop is ruined, but I’m not sure how much. We loooove mandarins in this house.
It IS so much more difficult to buy presents for boys when they are older. When they’re little, it’s legos and remote control cars.
Hope your weather warms up! Yay for the farmers — they work so hard 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics
Yes, I think boys are especially harder to buy for. I ended up getting him mostly new stuff for his bedroom.
My experience with These Broken Stars was similar. Also, I loved The Distance Between Us too! I’ve got Pivot Point by Kasie West that I need to start, but I keep putting it off! Hope you have a great week!

Yes, yes, yes … you must read Pivot Point.
Nice haul of books. I see lots of books that I don’t know. You got some excellent books in store. Come visit me as well.

I agree! Every year it’s harder t buy for the kids as they get older. Really, all they want is video games, but that means less under the tree since games aren’t cheap. I have to get creative. lol
Awesome book haul! Enjoy! 🙂
I got some good deals on video games during Black Friday, but thankfully there aren’t many out that my son is too interested in right now, anyway. I got him a new TV and leather office chair, so I have to wrap 2 huge boxes. That should be a load of fun.
Great books this week!
It seems it has been colder than normal everywhere! It actually got down to -9 here one night, crazy!!! It is finally getting above freezing again (well, above freezing, pathetic huh?). Makes me worried what January and February will look like. 🙁
-9? Eff that. I would have to move. HAVE TO!
Damn, I missed the Petersen book and now it’s full price again. Ah well, next time.
My shopping is almost done, now comes the wrapping.
Farmers have to work damn hard to keep their crops alive; it’s a rough job. I’m glad it’s warmed up for you all.
Happy reading!
Aw, it is? That stinks.
Haha – yeah, I have 2 HUGE boxes to wrap. That should be fun.
Yup, that it is.
I am hoping to read North pole Reform School next weekend. Glad it warmed up 🙂 have a wonderful week!
Yeah, I want to try and read before Christmas, or else it’ll have to wait until next year. 😀
YAY I’m so glad you got North Pole Reform School, Christy! I hope you love it as much as I did. Glad it warmed up there, and way to go getting your Christmas shopping done! I just have stocking stuffers left to get. Have a great week! 🙂

My Book Haul
Yeah, I had to buy it after I read your review. Hopefully I can squeeze it in before Christmas.
Ha! I was telling my husband that our 12 year old son is so hard to figure out what to buy for this year. He’s at that in between age, where he’s too old for some things and but not really old enough for others. So frustrating. I should tell him to stop getting any bigger and see if that works. 🙂 Enjoy your week and the new books.
And I think it’s harder to shop for boy at this age than it is for girls. Mine is 16, so mostly got him stuff for his room … new TV, nice office chair, etc. I don’t know what I’ll do next year.
I really want to read Racing Savannah. Everyone I know who has read it has said it was amazing. And The Distance Between Us was amazing!!!
Mind checking out my Sunday Post/Stacking the Shelves?
Have a great week!

The whole Hundred Oaks series rocks! If you haven’t read it yet, start with Catching Jordan. They are super quick reads.
wonderful new additions. I heard Racing Savannah is suppose to be really great!
The whole series is great!
I picked up the Bev Petterson book too. You have some nice books in your TBR. Enjoy and have a great week!
I really enjoyed These Broken Stars, and definitely agree that it starts out slow but picks up a lot nearer the end. I really want to read Miranda Kenneally’s books, I keep hearing such great things. New Bloglovin follower 🙂 My Sunday Post.
Glad the citrus crops are okay! We have warmed up here too but that means rain. I love the Hollows series and thanks for the heads up when they go on sale. I received Otters for review and I hope I love it, Heather Hildenbrand asked me to review it for her friend who is the author. I am over halfway through with Savannah and I like it but I am not over the moon over.
Well, not all of them are okay. My friend told me they lost some of their mandarin crop, but I don’t know how it is overall yet. Definitely better than it could’ve been, though. I’m looking forward to Must Love Otters. I’m over the moon about all of Kenneally’s book! lol
haha, it does get harder as they get older. And more expensive too! LOL. My son is driving me crazy with these things I can not afford for him. But, as I was shopping I have found the things that he needs and can use, and appreciate just as much. 🙂 I’m not done yet, need to get more after payday on Friday.
Have a great week and holiday!
Yes, more expensive, that’s for sure!
Done Christmas shopping? Impressive.. I feel I have just started.
You got some great deals this week! I’m so behind on my Christmas shopping, it’s not even funny. Good for you for being ahead of the game! 🙂
