Tristan Coleman has survived the change from Clann magic user to vampire, much to Savannah Colbert's joyโ€”and despair. By changing the Clann's golden boy and newly elected leader, even to save him from death, she has unleashed a fury of hatred and fear that they cannot escape.

As the Clann and the vampire council go to war, Tristan and Sav face a new threatโ€”a fracturing of the all-consuming bond they share. To fight for peace, they must forge a new trust and risk everything to take down their deadliest enemy, even as they must run for their lives. Soon they will learn that some bonds are stronger than loveโ€”and some battles cannot be won without sacrifice.

The first two books, Crave and Covet, revolved around the forbidden love of Savannah and Tristan. Witches and vampires aren’t supposed to mix. Savannah is half vampire and half witch, while Tristan is a witch and set to be the future leader of the Clann, so it’s even more forbidden than normal. This was the main aspect that made me groan in annoyance, but is also what kept me reading. The drama of two people in love, but can’t be together is a guilty pleasure of mine. That was lost in this book. Instead, it felt like the author put in drama between them just so there would be some. Unfortunately, it came across as forced and was uninteresting.

While I somewhat enjoyed the very beginning and the last part of Consume, there was a very large chunk that I found extremely boring. It was mainly a bunch of sitting around and bickering that induced a lot of eye rolling. I think I would have liked the story more if most of the middle was removed.

Overall, I was disappointed with Consume. I can’t even say I had mixed feelings or a love/hate relationship with it, because it was just okay. Reading the trilogy was like going to an amusement park. I went from riding a giant emotional roller coaster with the first two books, to riding a kiddie ride with Consume. And now it’s time to go home.

  1. Ah, man!!! I’ve actually been waiting to see what you though about this one! This is one series I’ve been putting off just because of your love/hate relationship. But I’m not a fan of drama added for drama’s sake. Just give me a HEA and let me roll around in it for a while. I might still read this series, tho. It still eyeballs me from the library shelf everytime I work in my section at work ๐Ÿ˜‰

Stellar review – Thanks!!! And welcome back!!! Hope you’re almost 100%!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks! Yeah, I’m feeling better, but not quite 100% yet.

I don’t know, you might really like this series. I have a hard time judging whether to recommend it or not, because I have such a weir relationship with them. Just try it one of these days when it’s staring at you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Honestly, this might be series you have more luck with than I did. But I did like the 1st two books, but it a weird way that’s hard to explain.

Yeah, you might like it a lot more than I did. I did like the 1st two books in a weird way, but this one just didn’t do it for me at all.

  2. Oh I know this feeling. While series annoys the hell out of you, you simply have to read the next book in series. I need to learn to let go. Anyhow I’m so sorry that this book disappointed you. It sucks when it happens with the last book in series. Great review Christy ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I can relate to those love-hate feelings! I really liked the first book (probably against my better judgement) but the sequel drove me insane at times. Though I’ll admit that I’m still curious about this book, even if just to find out what happens to the characters. It’s a shame that parts of it were boring for you. ๐Ÿ™ Thanks for the honest review!
