There’s optimistic. And there’s Jesse Walker.
If he wasn’t so charming, his sunny disposition and incessant grin would get old. Fast.
Falling in love with the broken girl who had at first seemed immune to anything resembling love was the best thing to happen to Jesse since the Walkers adopted him when he was five.
As Jesse’s life continues at the ranch and Rowen begins making her mark in the Seattle art community, they wonder where the middle ground is. Or if there even is one.
As push comes to shove, they’re forced to make choices neither are eager to make, and Jesse and Rowen have to face what their lives might look like without the other.
Can two people with such tragic pasts and different presents expect a promising future together? Whatever the answer, they’ll need a lot more than love to make it.
I read this first book in this series, Lost & Found, a couple of months ago and enjoyed it quite bit. The ending left me mixed up, because part of me liked leaving it the way it was and part of me wanted to know what the future held for Jesse and Rowen. I would have been fine either way. But when I saw there actually was going to be a sequel, I was surprised by how excited I got. Admittedly, though, I was anxious about the direction the author was going to take it. Thankfully, I was pleased with what transpired and thought Near & Far turned out to be wonderful sequel.
Near & Far is told with dual POVs of Jesse and Rowen. Rowen is living in Seattle, attending college, working on her art, has an amazing boyfriend, and living with a very… interesting roommate. Life is the best it has ever been for her, but life and relationships aren’t always easy, especially when your boyfriend lives 8 hours away and works on a cattle ranch. Jesse lives and breathes for Rowen. He would do anything for his girl, but old fears and demons start rearing their ugly heads.
Rowen has come a long way since we met her in Lost & Found, and I love the growth she shows throughout both books. But thank goodness she has her smartass attitude when she needs it. Jesse is still the sweet, sexy cowboy that Rowen fell in love with, but we see a different side to him in Near & Far. His struggle was heartbreaking. I love Rowen and Jesse as a team, but they are still learning to work together.
Not only does everyone from Lost & Found make an appearance, there are also some fun new characters. I was glad to see Josie and Garth, especially love the banter between Garth and … well, everyone. Garth is like a lot of cowboys I grew up with, so I have a soft spot for his ornery butt. Rowen has a roommate this is a handful, but a fun handful. Her inappropriateness had me laughing many times.
“So what were you two freaks about to do with your morning before I burst in and objectified, sexually harassed, and assaulted your boyfriend?”
There were plenty of ups and downs in this book, but I was happy with how they were resolved. There were situations that could have gone really bad and would have irritated me, but I liked the way the author took it. Williams handled it all really well. Now I am hoping for a spinoff of another set of certain characters, because they are just begging for it. 🙂
I need to add this series and I am glad the author did a great job with this..don’t you adore these dual povs!
I picked this one up on Tuesday and now I just need to find time to read them both but I feel better about them knowing that you really liked them.
Great review!
Sounds like a great read. I’m definitely adding it to my TBR list!
I have book one in this series, and I can’t wait to read it! I adored Crash and instantly fell in love with the author. Thanks so much for the post and giveaway!

Congrats to Nicole Williams on the release of the second book of the Lost & Found series.
I still haven’t read the first one. UGH! I am moving these up on my summer TBR right now. Sounds like Jesse and Rowen are at an interesting crossroad.
Thanks for hosting the giveaway.
I haven’t started this series yet but I really like the way she writes from her previous work.
Thank you for the giveaway!
A nice review, for a good read this summer.
Ranch and cowboys! I’m in 🙂
I loved Lost & Found! I can’t wait for more Jesse 😉
I have heard some great things about this series, and I really want to read these.
Thank you 😀
I like that it will be dual POV’s!
I’ve never read any of Nicole Williams’ books yet. So far, I’ve gotten some really forceful persuasions to read Crash, Crush and …something with a C, can’t remember. This sounds like a nice NA, though. I love me some cowboys. Lol.
I’ve heard such great things about the first book and already have it like so many other books I don’t have time to get to. Sequels to romances make me nervous too because many have over dramatic disastrous things breaking the couple up and it drives me nuts. Especially if it is a lot of arguing. Sounds like everything was resolved well.
sounds good.
The cover book was very….*uhuk-uhuk*
That was catching my eyes first. LOL!
You grew up with cowboys? How cool! 😀 I’ve heard a lot about Garth recently, and I think I’m most looking forward to meeting his character! Great review, Christy. I’m glad you enjoyed this. 🙂
Ha – yes, I showed horses and all that fun stuff.
This is a new author for me but after your review I’m intrigued! Adding these books to my TBR list!
