The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Okay, I have to do this quickย because we’re on Spring Clean Tornado mode here. I ordered a dumpster and we’re cleaning closets & the garage; removing trees & bushes – everything! We have a huge pile of clothes to to give to the Battered Women’s Shelter.
It’s been a hot, exciting week. It’s been in the high 80’s and low 90’s, way above normal for this time of year. My son’s track team won league championships!! Area championships are next week!

Books
It’s funny how things have changed after 2 years of blogging. I used to be happy when I got tons of new books and ARCs. Now, I’m happy when I don’t get a lot. It’s not that I don’t like getting more books, it’s just that I like feeling back in control and not overwhelmed.
Borrowed Power by Jonathan Maberry – Purchased. This is 1 of 7 short stories in the Joe Ledger series that will be released before Code Z.

How was your week?
I feel the same way now too!! I still love big book hauls, but the weeks were I get one or two feel like such a relief. It’s awesome that you are donating stuff! We use to do that about every 6 months, now we constantly put stuff to the side for it so we end up donating to various places throughout the year. It’s fantastic. Congratulations to your son and his track team! I hope they do well next week! (Also..give me your weather. I’m on the west side of GA and it’s in the 50’s)
Thanks, Michelle. Haha, I’ll send sunshine and rainbows your way. ๐
Woot! Woot! congrats to your son and his teammates. Ooh and when you are done hauling and cleaning there stop by and do my closets! I have cookies. bwahahaha!
Thanks, Kim. Hahaha – the cookies might be enough to lure my son into helping, but I need wine! ๐
I’ve got wine..red, white, sweet, tart.. or heck we can skip the win and say hello to my little friend’s Pedro and Jack!
Haha – then you can forget about any cleaning getting done.
I’m the same way. Now I get overwhelmed when a lot of review books come in; it’s relaxing to get just one or two. I’m slowly getting better at not requesting books unless I have time for them.
Congrats to your son and his team, woot! I think it’s great you are donating to the women’s shelter; they’ll appreciate it. ๐
Thanks, Bea. It is more relaxing. Even though I’m passing on books I’d like to read, it feels good not to feel overwhelmed.
Yep, I’m the same. These days I rarely accept books for review and prefer making my own choice on Netgalley or Edelweiss. Hope you enjoy your light haul, Christy! ๐
Thanks, Kara! ๐
Congrats on your son’s Team and your awesome son!!! Woooooot!!! And great idea to take your stuff to a shelter rather than dropping the goods at Goodwill. Goodwill is awesome but I’ve got to remember the other charities, too!!!!
BTW, I was just telling my hubs the other day the SAME EXACT thing about getting review books!!! I still happy dance for some of them, though ๐
Happy dumping!!! BTW, not that I did this when I lived out there, but did you hire any extra hauling help down at the Home Depot??? (I’m so NO PC!!! – sorry!!!)
Yeah, we have a ton of boy jeans in all different size from when my son was going through growth spurt every other damn month. So I’d rather give them to a place were some kids could really use them.
LOL – You know, we don’t have much of that around Home Depot here. They’re usually working on the farms and ranches. Besides, my son is in trouble and has been sentenced to hard labor. ๐ And trust me, I’m far from PC.
Congrats on your sons win! I think it’s great that you are donating to the BWS. Happy Spring cleaning. ๐

I am jealous of your haul. No joke. I wish I have restraint!
I have to practice it all the time.
I know what you mean. I do it myself. I have no restraint. Restraint is not in my dictionary. Eventually it will be.

We have been doing spring cleaning every weekend for the past month so I feel ya!
Congrats to your soon and his team, that is awesome!! I hope they do fabulous next week!!
Thanks, Ali!
I totally agree with you about the amount of books. I got a bit carried away in my first year and now still have arcs from 2012. I’m trying to request very little this year and hopefully catch up. So, I love small hauls now and I plan to keep it that way. Enjoy your book Christy ๐
Yeah, I finally caught up at the end of 2012 and don’t want to get behind again.
I hope to get caught up by the end of this year *fingers crossed* ๐
Congrats to your son!! That is so exciting! Oh, I love Jonathan Maberry. I’ve read all the books in the Benny Imura series. Haven’t had a chance to read Joe Ledger series yet, but I really want to.
Have a great week!!
I am eagerly counting down the days to Fire & Ash. I like the Joe Ledger series, but they are mainly for my son. He loves it! And it’s fun seeing the crossover of characters in two series.
I haven’t heard of Borrowed Power but hope you enjoy
Ohh, so true about those changes! Just the other day I got two packages, one with 3 books and one with 4, and I actually groaned.
So yeah, when I get little, it almost feels like a vacation. ๐
Happy reading!
I need to do spring cleaning too. I have alot of clothes to donate. Good for you! Congrats to your son!
I feel the same way about books. I love alot of books but sometimes I’m happy not to get too many so I can catch up.
Have a great week!
Oh wow. Hope you get through all that cleaning. ๐ And I like the name. lol. I need to do that, if I could find the energy these days. lol
Have a great week!
I too posted a Sunday Post, if you’d like to stop by…
http://melissa-melsworld.blogspot.com/2013/05/sunday-post-10.html
I totally know what you mean. I actually hate when publishers send me books I haven’t asked for now. I see a package and think ‘Don’t you KNOW who much I have to read already?’. I used to love surprise books, too. You’re right, it’s about feeling in control. ๐
Great wrap-up!
I know I prefer to just get a book or two because otherwise I feel pressured to read everything and I usually end up too busy to get through everything. I haven’t read anything by Jonathan Maberry but have heard great things. I think I have a couple of his books. LOL See I have like a ton of books on my shelf and in my kindle that sit there for years unread. Thanks for stopping by!
I was super confused thinking it can’t be Wednesday. Way to Jedi mind trick me. I know exactly what you mean about getting too, many books. I am getting over my hoarding problem. It is unseasonably warm here, too. 85 the last couple of days!
And THAT’S what happens when I’m in a rush and only paying half attention.
I totally agree with you, when I have a light week I’m SO relieved! I’m always behind it seems. ๐ Happy reading, and good luck with your cleaning!
