Sunday Post #4 (9/2/12)

The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Noooooo! August is gone. *sobs uncontrollably*  I’m never ready for fall and winter.  At least it usually stays pretty warm here into October.  Not as warm as I like, but warm enough.  I hate cold weather.  And by cold, I mean anything under 70 degrees.

What happened on the blog?

— Posted an excerpt from SEAWEED by Elle Strauss.  There’s also a giveaway for a prize pack, so check it out!

— Posted a cover reveal of VENGEANCE BOUND by Justina Ireland.   Do you like it?

— I waited on INTO THE WOODS by Kim Harrison.  I need it now!

— Posted a Q&A with author Darynda Jones.  Read her book FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT for a read-along & it was great!

— Reviewed THE DEAD GIRLS DETECTIVE AGENCY by Suzy Cox.  Blah.

— The 2nd annual Back to the Books Giveaway Hop is in full swing.  Two books of your choice is up for grabs.

Books I got this week

Click on the covers to go to Goodreads.

I actually already read & reviewed Pure earlier this year, but I won this copy from a Goodreads giveaway and gave it to my teenage neighbor.  You can read my review HERE.

I’ve seen Contagious makes the rounds and it sounds like my kind of book.  Plus, it’s only $0.99.

What’s coming up?

The CORNERSTONE read-along!  Seriously you guys, join!

It starts this week, with the 1st post going up on Wednesday, but really, you can post at your convenience. Click on the image below to get the complete rundown.

Did I mention the book is currently only $0.99?  Not sure for how long, though.

Nalena Maxwell has been branded ‘The Waste’ at her new school, due to her mom’s obsessive paper hoarding. Nalena desperately wants something to change in her life, but when she receives a sign (and it’s the wrong dang one) inviting her into a mysterious, ancient community, too much changes. What she knew of her family, what she thought of her life and what she believed about her future, is no longer applicable. Seventeen years worth of family skeletons come crashing into Nalena’s life and it is the boy…the one that smiles at her like he wants to hear everything she’ll ever say…that already knows her powerful secrets. But it is only Nalena that can choose between protecting the life that is already crumbling beneath her feet and the one that might sacrifice everything she could ever have.

The books are getting new covers. Maybe.  Which do you like better?  The old are in the middle.

What else? What have all of you been up to?

  1. They DID put up the new covers to Cornerstone on Amazon – I was there last night double checking the price for my post 🙂 I started reading it and it’s really easy reading… pretty fast! I like Naly’s voice. I totally think I know where it’s going 🙂 – I kind of like the old cover better, tho. It just looks a bit classier, sharper.

Have a great week and see you Wed!!!

    • Forgot to say I’m really liking Cornerstone!!

And I’ll cut back on the emoticons – I’m having excitement issues over here this morning. Those and exclamation marks are all over my comments today…

Lol – excitement issues are better than having unhappy issues 😀

Shhh… don’t tell, but I haven’t started Cornerstone yet. That’s on my to-do list today. lol

  2. I’m really not feelin these covers, maybe it’s because of the girl?? anywhoo, enjoy your reads and I will definitely be checking out Cornerstone over @ Amazon. Thanks!

  3. I don’t LOVE the new covers, I think they are a bit too steamy and they look YA contemp to me. BUT I wonder if they’ll catch the eye of more people. I prefer the old but I don’t know that they really shout READ ME to new people. I wonder, since someone said they are up on amazon, if sales go up. It would be nice if more people gave them a shot!
Thanks so much for posting about the read-along! I really hope more people sign up!

  4. Quit whining at least you don’t have to deal with months of rain! Hmm looking over your past week I see book whoring, pimping oh some more prostitution oh wait a review….the one with the cover and those hands…oh wait it made you drowsy….I need to go write up my Cornerstone questions, I am not a fan of the new covers, you can practically see the girl’s nipple. How is the Sadie Walker book? Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. Thanks for supporting me in my attempt to curb my problem!

LOL – that made me laugh… I have Whore Wrangling as my occupation on my personal facebook.

Yeah, ‘too sexy’ seems to be the consensus about the covers.

What made you ask about Sadie Walker? I read it along time ago & liked it a lot.

  5. I really do need to try and squeeze this one in!
I had a lot of fun with the other read-a-long and I know Heidi that you loved this one!

Have either of you read the second one yet?
I don’t know the characters (obviously) but I can’t say I love the new covers either, I liked the old ones.
