Posted August 8, 2012 | 12 Comments

Here we are, the 2nd week of the First Grave on the Right read-along, and I’m totally loving this book. You can still sign-up and participate if you want, the linkys will be open all month.  Don’t forget that Darynda will be joining us for a Q&A at the end of the RAL, and there are prizes!  And if you have any questions you would like Darynda to answer for the Q&A, then ask away.  Heidi will put them together for Darynda, so here’s your chance to have your questions answered.

This weeks link -up is over at Babbling About Books and Stuff.  And questions for week three will be over at In the Closet With a Bibliophile.

4th Wk – 8/23  Rainy Day Ramblings ~ Ch 16-21
5th Wk – 8/30 Darynda Jones Q&A + winners announcement

1 – Shiny objects and old family stories are told in this chapter, including an old nickname for our dear Charley. What was the nickname her uncle Bob gave her when she was little? Do you have an old nickname from when you were a kid? You can share it, and if it’s really embarrassing we won’t mind. *wink*

That’s funny, because I love Calamity Jane!  As for myself, the only real nicknames I had were different variations of my name: Chrissy & Chris.  Those were by family members.  I did have a kind of nickname the beginning of high school, which was Coco.  I’m not saying how I got it because it’s embarrassing.  Only a couple of people still occasionally call me that.

2 – In this chapter we met someone. A really special guy named Rocket. Now, my memory is not what it used to be, and I just can’t remember what makes him so special. Can you tell me what makes this particular ghost unique among all the others? And how about you? What can you do that makes you special? Anything? Jump on one foot for a really long time counts. *giggle*

Rocket’s story made me kind of sad, and I’m dying to know what he meant!  Like Charley, I have a fascination with Asylums.  I just like really odd stuff.  As for the ability to do something special… hmm.. everything I do is special.  Right??

3 – Charley is really *cough* not your ordinary girl. She does something that, well, there’s no way around it. She named parts of her body and the names are… oh crap, I forgot. Just my luck. *sigh* But I’m sure you guys can say what part of her body she named and what the names were. And, since we are on the matter, have you ever named a part of your body? If so, what was it and what was the name? Come on, don’t be shy. *wink+crooked smile*

Haha, I can honestly say that I’ve never named my boobies or any other part of my body.  I stick with naming cars and animals.. and my son.  That’s all, I think.

4 – We all have our little secrets. Things we don’t tell anyone, not even our bff. Char (we became close 😛 ) is no different, but in this chapter she shared her little (big) secret (S) with her bff. What did you think about her reaction? What would be yours?

I wouldn’t be freaked out like Charley expected Cookie to be.  I don’t know, it kind of didn’t seem like a big deal.  I mean, yeah, it was all pretty damn cool, but nothing to need therapy over.  I’d totally be asking questions like Cookie was.  Not out of disbelief, but out of fascination and intrigue.

5 – In this chapter, Char continues her heart-to-heart with her BFF and comes up with some theories about our fave badboy/possibly ghost. What do you think of it? Can it be? What do you think about him? Hot? Double chocolate hot? Super duper caramel chocolate cake with a cherry on top hot?

I don’t know, Darynda is definitely making me put my thinking cap on.  The whole connection thing is interesting.  And at this point, Reyes is probably a really yummy cupcake.  Hopefully he’ll become more as I get to actually know him.
