It’s the first day of the Silent Song blog tour! I’m excited, because I <3 Ron and I’m so happy for her. Today she’s going give us a peek into her writing cave, plus giveaway several copies of her book.
About Silent Song:
The princess of the school, Alice, is keeping a secret that could strip her of her high school fame. She is obsessed with the school’s outcast, Keith, but not just him – his music.
Since the inspiration for the song hit, Keith can’t get it out of his mind. The song must be played; it demands to be played. He knows the music is changing him, but he is unable to stop it.
Music has the ability to move you, enlighten you, and take you to places you have never dreamed of. And this particular piece? It has a life of its own and makes you forget who you really are.
As Keith and Alice learn of one another to the notes of that one perfect tune, they can overlook their roles and discover who they could be together. But they also discover someone else is listening and intends on keeping Keith to herself, possibly for an eternity.
I’m super envious of people who can do creative stuff in the mornings. When I get up each day, I have only one friend—and it’s not one of my characters. It’s my toaster. No, really. See how photogenic it is? We’re best pals, and it’s the only thing between me, aka the Low Blood Pressure Monster, and world destruction.
Afterwards, when I’m more or less sane, I do the “unavoidable stuff”. Chores, day job, doc visits… you name it. I’ve tried writing once and again, but it just doesn’t work. I’m too unfocused and my imagination hits awesome lows before lunch!
The afternoon’s another story, though. Afternoon and evening, that’s when I retire to my Writer Lair and start typing away while surfing the sugar high dessert gave me. I’ve a corner of my study all prepped up for this momentous occasion: I have my tacky bright pink headphones, so that I can listen to my awesome (and awesomely short) playlist; I have my computer, with Word fired up and TweetDeck on the background (no comment); I have a wonderfully straight-backed chair right out of the renaissance to keep me uncomfortable and awake.
I also have a ton of papers scattered around for me to take notes of anything random that might come to mind. And of course, there’s the magic item that didn’t make it into the picture because it’s a bit embarrassing but that it’s always there: the blackmail.
My blackmail is a bag of red licorice. I’ll set myself writing goals (sometimes aided by the threat of writeordie software) and each time I accomplish one, I’ll save one of the licorice bars from their hostage situation. They’re usually being held captive somewhere close enough for me to see, but far enough that I have to get up to reach them in order to avoid temptation.
I keep up this routine until a) I’ve rescued all the candy; or b) someone comes over to force some semblance of a social life down my throat. The latter only happens if I’ve failed to send “I’m alive” signals for a long period of time, because I’m fiercely possessive of my lair and resent intruders.
Unless they bring cookies as a peace offering. Then it’s alright.

Aw, no creepy crawlers in your lair? But they’ll help keep those intruders out 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Ron!

Hey Christy! Thank you so much for having me over today; writing this post to share with you was a blast!
About those creepers… Er… Can’t we find something else to do the job? Like, a crocodile? (That’d be sooo much better than spiders!)
I’ve always been interested on a writer’s writing processes – most of all their environs while they write. This is a cool insight! Thanks for sharing, ladies. 🙂
Thanks for reading! I admit, it’s a bit odd to see pictures of my writing lair in public (and my toaster… let’s not forget that!) but I loved sharing it with you all!
haha I love the word lair too! Ever since Mega Mind “There’s no place like evil lair!” I am also scared of spiders! So gross! Although there are very pretty caves with crystals and I think of those when people mention writing caves. I’m a night owl so I get most things done at night too. I can’t think in the morning. Nothing should ever be expected before noon! Great post!
Oohhhh… Pretty caves! You’re right, those are so beautiful! I always try to visit those whenever I’m around them. Why didn’t those come to mind…? My mental cave image was much more dingy and creepy!
Still, lair sounds good. Evil lair is so cool… I think I’m going to stick to that one. Evil writer lair.
Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked the post! 🙂
Love your comments about your Writer’s Lair – and I am a huge fan of red licorice too. I never thought about taking it hostage. LOL. I love your sense of humor and I can’t wait to read your book. Oh and BTW, I LOVE the cover!
Red licorice rules! 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy the book… And I’m so glad you liked the cover! It’s a bit different from your average YA romance with paranormal hints, but I think it fits the story perfectly!
i wonder what happen next with keith and alice…really want to read this book..
i hope i win this giveaway…
thx u so much ^^
Best of lucks! Thanks for being part of the tour!
I am so not a morning worker either. Evening and night is when I tend to get much done. 😉 Great post! Thanks for sharing this insight into the life of a writer! 🙂
Sam, I think owls have the right of it… Evening and night rule!
What a great post, Christy! As a pianist and vocalist, this book is going to be a MUST READ for me!! I love a book that features music and musicians! Thanks so much for letting me know about it and for the awesome giveaway!! <3
I’d love to hear the opinion of a musian and book lover! I hope you get to read it 🙂
This sounds like a great book!
And I love that she keeps the candy hostage just out of reach. 😉 That’s hilarious!
I’ve tried to keep it closer… but I always eat it all before hand! 🙂
Glad you like how it looks!
I’m looking forward to reading SILENT SONG thank you. It looks amazing.
Hope you’ll enjoy it! Thanks for participating in the tour!

Sometimes an author needs to get creative… not just about the words on the page! *grins* Hope you’ll enjoy the book!
I love reading books that deal with music. Thank you for the giveaway.
Then you’ll like this one! I promise! 🙂
I am so not a morning person either! Thanks for the giveaway!
We should make an evening person team or something, honestly… There’s more of us than of those morning-chipper-crazy-folks! (said with all my love for those chipper crazy folks)
Thanks for the giveaway! I’m hoping I will win this one! I’ve been eyeing this book for so long!

I don’t do ebooks, so would have to be print if I win. This contest is fun! Thanks!
Enjoyed visiting your Lair! Maxie
I don’t have anything to read the ebooks on, so I hope if I win it will be the print.
This isn’t a book that I would probably pick up based on the cover alone, but once I read the blurb, I had to rethink my decision and remind myself YET again, not to judge a book by its cover. Yeah, I have issues with that. Thanks for the giveaway, and for opening up my world of reading a little more!
I can’t wait to knwo the results of this giveaway
cool book! 😀

I’m all about the evening person team. LOL! Thank you for this giveaway! :o)
