This is the 1st of 5 days of top 10 picks of 2011. It’s hosted by A Life Bound by Books & Confessions of a Bookaholic.
Today is the Top 10 Best Books I’ve Read.
Most of these were published in 2011, but there are a couple that are a little older, but I read them for the first time this year. I’m not putting these in any particular order. If they are on my top 10, then that means I loved them.
Title: Dark Inside
Author: Jeyn Roberts
Pub Date: November 1, 2011
This is the first book in a long time to truly creep me out. There is something so psychologically effed up about what goes on in this book, and that’s the type of stuff that creeps me out the most. My review.
Title: The Night Circus
Author: Erin Morgenstern
Pub Date: September 13, 2011
Not only did I fall in love with Le Cirque des Reves, but I also got the book signed. This was such a beautiful book inside and out. A total must read. My review.
Title: The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins
Pub Date: September 14, 2008
I read the trilogy for the first time in March of 2011, and WOW! I honestly hadn’t heard much about this when I read it. I received it as a recommendation on Amazon, so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m so glad I did! I love my girl Katniss.
Title: Dust & Decay
Author: Jonathan Maberry
Pub Date: August 30, 2011
*sigh* I absolutely LOVE this series. This is the 2nd book, after Rot & Ruin, and it was great! It’s more than just a zombie book. I love the cover, too. It has a creepy-beautiful thing going on. If you want to try a book with zombie for the 1st time, I suggest starting with this series. My review.
Title: Glow
Author: Amy Kathleen Ryan
Pub Date: September 13, 2011
I really loved this book. I loved how the author gave a look into both sides of the situation, and allowed the reader to decide. Why do people do the things they do? What motivates them? Can you understand why someone does something, even if it’s considered bad to you? The author wrote a great blog post about the religion in the book after seeing such conflicting takes on it. You can check it out here. I can’t wait for the next book. My review.
Title: Pretty When She Dies
Author: Rhiannon Frater
Pub Date: November 24, 2008
I’m totally in love with this book, and can’t wait until the sequel. Amaliya is so messed up, but I love her. If you want a gritty vampire book, then this is it. And I love the cover.. My review.
Title: Beauty Queens
Author: Libba Bray
Pub Date: May 24, 2011
I love satire. Love it. I think this book made me laugh the most this year. My review.
Title: Pale Demon
Author: Kim Harrison
Pub Date: February 22, 2011
The Rachel Morgan/Hollows series is my favorite, and this is book 9. I love, love, love Rachel and her little posse.
Title: The Devil in the White City
Author: Erik Larson
Author: Erik Larson
Pub Date: February 11, 2003
There was so much about this book that I loved. I love learning about not only the big things from history, but the little random facts, too. This was a huge event in American history, and it was fascinating learning all that went into it. Not to mention how interesting the serial killer aspect of it is. I’ve always enjoyed studying them.
Title: The Passage
Author: Justin Cronin
Pub Date: June 8, 2010
This book was so long, and I complained about how long it was while reading it. But.. I enjoyed every minute of this book. I read it in January, almost a year ago, and I still think about it.
Well, that’s ten. But I have to mention a few more….
Drink, Slay, Love by Sarah Beth Durst
Dead of Night by Jonathan Maberry
Hollowland and Hollowmen by Amanda Hocking
There were A LOT of good books this year. What do you think?
Excellent list..The Passage was one of my all time favorite books and I cannot wait for the Twelve to be released in 2012..wahoo!
I also loved Discovery of Witches, Deadline and Downpour. I am going to do a blog about Downpour and the Greywalker series..so look for it.
Great picks! Only The Hunger Games made my list. But I have The Night Circus, The Hollows series, and the Dust & Decay series on my TBR lists. Glow was pretty good too.

Mystifying Paranormal Reviews
Several of these are on my TBR list…I hope to get to them soon. Great list!
Great list. Loved seeing Pretty When She Dies on it. I really enjoyed reading it. I can't wait to get to Dusty & Decay after reading Rot & Ruin–it is way more than a zombie book. Devil in the White City has been haunting me from my shelf for years. I should go for it.
What a great variety of books! I'll have to check out Pretty When She Dies. Devil in the White City is on my TBR shelf; hopefully I can get to it soon!
