17-year-old Vicky Hernandez has a big problem. She's dead. Or not quite. After discovering she's been turned into a vampire, she tries to settle into a quiet suburb of Chicago and return to a normal life.

If only she could stop wanting to bite her boyfriend. Not to mention she is dying to find out who turned her, and why. She doesn't have to wait long before they come to her.

Bloody Little Secrets seriously had me from the very beginning to the very last page.  It made me mad that I couldn’t just sit and read the entire book without interruptions.  With a first chapter like the one this book had, I knew it was going to be good!  Vicky, a seventeen-year-old senior in high school, suddenly wakes up in a coffin and doesn’t know what’s going on, not to mention she was buried in her homecoming dress!  How she got out of the grave made me laugh – it was funny, yet ingenious.  Turns out, she had been turned into a vampire, but doesn’t even remember dying.  Vicky had me laughing a lot, and I love that in a book.  Besides her humor, she was pretty kick-ass, and when those two things mix, I love it twice as much.

I also liked Drake, the boy Vicky meets after dying…. well, when she dies the first time.  He seems silly, but in a really cute way.  I seriously like that the author didn’t make the relationship so over the top.  It wasn’t obsessive, which always bothers me when they act like they can’t live without each other from the moment they meet.  And I love Drake’s little group of friends – Monty, Callie, Ernie, and Lauryn.

There were quite a few other things I really liked in the book too.  I thought it was original and funny how each person smelled and tasted like certain foods, and they kind of match the person.  When she described what Drake smelled and tasted  like, I thought it was pretty funny and fitting.  Also, I liked the reasoning for her being turned into a vampire.

What didn’t I like about Bloody Little Secrets?  It ended!! Now I’m forced to wait for Karly Kirkpatrick to write book two… if she decides to.  I would love to know what happens next in Vicky’s undead life.

  1. I wasn't going to pick up this book at first but your review made me want to give it a shot! Im adding it to my TBR and wish list 🙂

And i'm sure everyone would love me to review my law casebooks. It would not be boring at all :p haha

How is the design coming along? Have you seen any drafts yet? Im excited to see it, I bet you are even more excited though.

  2. It's good. Quick, funny, and kick-ass.. all things I like.

Just add your own details in the reviews.. like it's a demon or vampire breaking the laws. lol

I haven't seen anything yet. She has someone else before me, so I probably won't see anything too soon.
