Calling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn't. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work...until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn't want?

Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us's Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time.

I fell in love with Time Between Us when I read it, and was ecstatic when I discovered that there would be a sequel. Then to find out that it would be from Bennett’s perspective made it even better. I’m not always thrilled when the author does it this way, but I was all for getting in Bennett’s head! I was especially glad that it continued on with the story from a little after Time Between Us left off, instead of just being his perspective during the same time frame as in the first book. Suffice it to say that I loved Time After Time!

Distance can be hard and really take a toll on any couple, so the fact that Bennett lives in the year 2012 and Anna in 1995 makes theirs the ultimate long distance relationship. Do not go into this book expecting scientific explanations for the time traveling. Bennett doesn’t know why he can nor does he know all the rules and limitations. As a huge fan of time travel, I’m perfectly fine with that because not everything has to be explained. It’s the relationship between Anna and Bennett that I love so much, and their struggle to make it work despite their predicament.

I loved seeing everything from Bennett’s perspective and what his life is like in 2012. While trying to be a good boyfriend and be there for Anna, he also starts experimenting with his time travel abilities. In doing so, he risks being pulled away from Anna for good. The unpredictability of his abilities is part of why I love their love story so much – it could be snatched away at any time. It reminds me of my most favorite book, The Time Traveler’s Wife. I’m not even going to get into the personal reasons why these type of stories hit me right in the heart, but they do. Big time.

Both Time Between Us and Time After Time were absolutely wonderful! Honestly, they are great books even for people who aren’t really into time travel, because they definitely have a little more of a contemporary vibe to them. Tamara did a great job weaving everything together and making the time travel aspect easy to follow. I was very satisfied with how it all turned out and would love to read more of these characters.

Obviously I love this series and recommend it. So read it. Read it now!

  1. Yes! I felt the same way about this one. I just love the story for the simple fact of Anna and Bennett and nothing more. It is a love story first and foremost and it is a beautiful one!! I loved every moment of both books but I think I might have loved this one more.

  2. I haven’t read a time travelers wife or seen the movie, but your review makes me want to read this series and that book. I get so many book recs from your reviews Christy. So many are books that I have been meaning to read and just haven’t gotten around to yet. Not enough time.

Oh and how are you feeling? I hope better 🙂

    Thanks for the great review!

Thanks, Michelle. I’m feeling a little better, but I still have so much junk in my lungs that makes me tired from coughing.

Do NOT watch the movie first. I finally gave in and watched it …. meh. It was a watered down summary of the book.

Aw really? Sometimes I find it boring having everything spelled out in a story. I assume it’s genetic in Bennett’s case, like in The Time Traveler’s Wife.

I loved time between us. However I wish it had more scientific explanations but I read your review of the second one it does not matter anymore. I loved the romance and I can’t wait to read from Bennet’s perspective.thx for the review Christy

The technical stuff didn’t matter at all because it was THEM I cared about, now how it was happening. It reminded me of The Time Traveler’s Wife too, but I’m glad this one had a happier ending. 😉
