He's a player in more ways than one…
College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hookups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he'll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he's worth a second chance.
Now he's going to need to up his game…
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She's not a charity case, and she's not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He'll have to work for it. This time around, she'll be the one in the driver's seat, and she plans on driving him wild.
Warning: Do not read The Mistake while sick. It’s dangerous! All the laughing caused some serious coughing fits and I couldn’t breathe. I could have died! Ah, but what a way to go.
I read The Deal last year and felt that it was the type of book that made the NA genre look good. Thankfully The Mistake continues that. Wonderful characters, feels, humor, banter … it has it all. All while being low in the angst department. Believe me, I enjoy some good angst, but this is so damn good it doesn’t need to rely heavily on it.
The characters totally standout. Grace is an adorable and funny heroine who will stand up for herself. I love when she’d give Logan hell, but wasn’t ridiculous about it. He definitely needed it on occasion. I also like that Grace does some self-reflection and growing, but it isn’t all due to a guy. Logan had his issues to go through, but he’s a great guy. He had me laughing on numerous occasions, especially when it came to the bit about his ‘honorable intention’ – hahaha! I love the chemistry between Grace and Logan, but the playfulness between them took it to another level. It made it fun and way sexier.
On top of the great chemistry between those two, the guys are freaking hilarious together! I love, love, love when there’s a group of guys who are close and give each other shit. Seriously, I could read a whole book of just them and their shenanigans. Dean was instantly my favorite in the first book, so I’m extra happy anytime he‘s around.
Okay, so I noticed Drew Baylor was mentioned in this book, who is from the Game On series by Kristen Callihan. I honestly can’t believe I caught that, but that’s hella cool! I wonder if there are others like that I didn’t catch.
Anyway, in a sea of NA, this series definitely stands out as one of the best. Now, gimmie my Dean in The Score!
