This Week’s Question: What are some of your favorite feel good, light and fluffy reads?

——————————————————————-

Pfft … I don’t do light and fluffy. 😀 No, this really is a tough question. When I think of light and fluffy, I think of sweet romances, chick lit, stuff like that. Is that right? I don’t read a whole lot of that. At least not lately. Though I have been in the mood for some light and fluffy.

One that immediately comes to mind is The Boys of Summer. How I love that book! Oh! And Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares. That was a really cute book. Hmm… Time Between Us is another one I love like crazy. I can only think of those three.

What are some of yours? Give me some suggestions.

  1. No way, you scream light, fluffy and silly books! Eh, don’t worry, none of mine were that way either. 😀 I’m more of a “just nice” books kind of person, most of my re-reads are darker paranormals or tortured romance.

I picked Wallbanger by Alice Clayton, Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas, Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James and A Reclusive Heart by R.L. Mathewson. I wonder what it says that none of them are YA?

  3. I like light and fluffy, feel good reads some times. I just finished reading an adult one and enjoyed it. The Best Man. Thought it took me a few months to finish it cause it started slow. Maybe thats why I don’t read them as often, they tend to drag for me. I think there is also a difference between light and fluffy and downright rot your teeth sweet, perfect and booring.

  4. Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares is a favorite of mine! This is a great discussion! I just read How Zoe Made Her Dreams Come (Mostly) True and that was a good one. Going Vintage, Blaze, Dairy Queen, A & L Do Summer, What a Boy Wants, Smart Girls Get What they Want, From What I Remember and then the Jessica Darling books are a few I see when glancing at my goodreads shelf. I love Stephanie Perkins as well!

I am a self-professed chick-lit, romance novel addict I like to think of myself as a romance connoisseur I am always looking for something new in the romance department and I will definitely look into your suggestions.

My most recent find that I must recommend is the book Shanghai Love, by author Layne Wong (http://laynewong.com/). It is an unlikely love story between a Chinese herbalist and a Jewish refugee looking for safety from Nazi Germany. The herbalist, Peilin, was betrothed to a man who was killed before their wedding but tradition and honor forced the marriage along anyways. She is sent to Shanghai to manage his family’s herbal shop. Shanghai is also Henri’s destination as he has graduated from medical school as Hitler is rising to power. He flees to Shanghai where he’s befriended by Ping, Peilin’s brother. Through her kindness, Henri becomes fascinated with Chinese herbs as well as the exotic culture surrounding him. It is such a gripping story and I absolutely adore a romance novel that allows a relationship to slowly blossom and one that takes time before the two can ultimately be together… I know it doesn’t sound very light and fluffy (it’s not) but it really is such a feel good book with wonderful, loveable characters. I hope you will give it a read!
