Tell Me Something Tuesday is hosted by Heidi @ Rainy Day Ramblings. There is a new discussion question each week. You can find all the details on her page. Hope you all decide to join!
This weeks question: What are some of your tips for building a successful blog?
I’ll let you know once I actually build a successful blog. 😉
Seriously though, I guess it depends on what you consider successful. Is having a lot of followers successful even if you get little views? A lot of comments? Having a handful of loyal followers? Or is it successful when raking in money from affiliates and ads. I think it’s a little different for everyone.
The number one most important factor no matter what your definition is though, is getting yourself out there. There are so many social media outlets do this with: Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, etc. They are all great places to interact with other people and get your blog known. I’m not very good at this, but I try.
Also, get to know your fellow bloggers. We’re a pretty nice bunch for the most part. I don’t bite …. hard, anyway. 🙂 Join events like read-a-thons, read-a-longs, challenges like Kimba’s Clean Sweep Challenge, or the annual Armchair BEA in May. There’s always some kind of event going on, and you really get to know people this way. This is how I met some of my best blogging buddies (e.g., Heidi during a read-a-long and Kimba during a read-a-thon). Don’t be shy!
Content is important too. What type of content you have on your blog will also play a factor. Do you want to be review based, promotional based, a bit of both? Know what you want your blog to be successful in and find that audience. It’s not easy and won’t happen overnight.
People are always welcome to contact me with questions. If I don’t know the answer, I can point you to another blogger who might know and would be happy to help.
What do you think?
