Sunday Post #1 (8/12/12)

August 11, 2012 Uncategorized 27

Okay, so usually I do a monthly wrap-up on the blog, but I just don’t have the time or energy to do that anymore.  So, I decided to join the Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Sometimes.  We’ll see.

There really wasn’t much going on this last week since I’ve been kinda busy.  School starts next week for my son, so it’s been haircuts, clothes shopping, shoe shopping (he went from a 12 to a 13 in 2 months!), and all that fun stuff.  Plus, I’m totally obsessed with the Olympics.  Unfortunately NBC’s coverage sucks.

Three other bloggers and I are hosting a read-along during the month of August for First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones.  You can sign-up at anytime. Just click on the image below to get all the info.

 My Week #1 – Post
My Week #2 – Post

  What else happened?

– The Noctalis blog tour stopped here and Chelsea Cameron shared Peter’s Playlist.  There’s a giveaway and a scavenger hunt for a huge prize package!

– I reviewed Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan, and I loved it!  You can also listen to the entire 1st chapter from the audiobook.

– I reviewed Wake by Amanda Hocking for the blog tour, and really enjoyed this one too.  You can enter to win a hardcover copy of the book and listen to the 1st chapter of the audiobook.

Did I get any books?

Why yes I did.  Click on the covers to go to Goodreads.

I haven’t started book 2 of the Joe Ledger series yet, but my son finished it and wanted the 3rd book.  Of course I couldn’t resist getting the ARC of Trapped by Kevin Hearne.  And I’ll be part of the Keystone blog tour and read-along in September.

I also downloaded some audiobooks.  I heard great things about Code Name Verity, and the narrators sounds really good.  Then I got the other two for a 2-for-1 deal.

Well, that’s about it! What about you all?

I just ran and asked for Trapped – I was hesitant b/c it was Random House and I never asked from them before… we’ll see :) Did you read Tricked yet???? Oh, and did you sign up to be a Grimlet for Darynda? I missed the boat on that one :(

Anyhoooo… I totally approve of all your recent acquisitions (ha, ha!) – I’ve been meaning to read my copy of Succubus Blues, I’ve heard Code Name Verity is the bomb, I soooo need to read Stacia Kane and Atticus, well, he’s Atticus!! I don’t know the others so I’ll check them out!!

    Have a great week!

I hope you get it! I’m listening to Hammered now and already have Tricked on audiobook, so I probably won’t actually read Trapped until October.

Yeah, I signed-up to be a Grimlet. I think they might open it up for more at sometime. I’m sure they’ll post it on the FB page.

  2. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas

I’ve read Succubus Blues and really enjoyed it, it was a pretty entertaining read. I haven’t read the Joe Ledger series yet but I’ve read Maberry’s Rot & Ruin which was fantastic, so I’ll have to check those out when I can.
I hope you enjoy all of your books!

Yes! My son and I both love the Benny Imura series and can’t wait for the 3rd book. The Joe Ledger series is different than the BI series, but still REALLY good!

After all this 110 degree weather, I’m looking forward to a cool down too. I love summer, but it’s so cruel sometimes. lol

    • Christy

Yeah, I’ve heard good things about Succubus Blues. Thanks for stopping by, Jenea.

Ugh, seems like he ALWAYS has growth spurts. He’s 15 and 6’2″.. I’d be perfectly happy if he stopped growing now. lol

Thanks for stopping by, Sandy! :)

I’m really excited about Code Name Verity. The only reason I got the audiobook is because the narrators sound really cool. lol

I really hope you love Cornerstone! And I have the first Succubus book but haven’t read it yet.
Hey- the tour is actually the Keystone tour, but the read- along is for Cornerstone since it’s the first book. And its in September. Maybe that was just a typo but just in case I wanted to let you know. :) So excited you’re part of it though!

  4. Book Savvy Babe

LOL, it sounds like your week was very similar to mine, getting the kids ready for school. There’s something to summer, kids just outgrow all their clothes and shoes and their hair grows twice as fast… Anyhow, great book haul, I love the Succubus series by Richelle Mead, happy reading/listening! Returning the comment love and I’m a new follower!!!

So I read I think maybe two books in the Succubus series. The first one was great but the second one lost me a bit. I do love Richelle meads VA series. I think your readalong is awesome and I would join in if school wasn’t about to consume my life! Enjoy your haul!
