Summer Lovin’ Update 2016

Posted June 19, 2016 | 36 Comments

Hey, hey, hey! So I’m back. Partially. I thought I’d just give an update about what’s going on around here – off & on the blog.

  • First of all, thank you to all for the supportive comments and positive thoughts for my uncle. Good news is, he is much, much better and on the road to recovery. It’s definitely a far cry from when we were preparing to decide to take him off life support.
  • I was able to get in some much needed beach time. You have no idea how much it recharges me. I have a couple more trips planned in the coming months and I’m so looking forward to them!
  • A reason for the partially being back is because I have kind of a busy schedule coming up, and on top of that I’m taking a couple of classes. Why? Because I LOVE learning! About anything and everything, really.
  • Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to read very much lately. I only read four books over the last two weeks, but I believe I’m still on track for my 120 book Goodreads goals. I noticed I’ve been avoiding romance lately; it just hasn’t appealed that much to me. I think I’m tired of the same ol’ song and dance that usually comes with it. So with a couple of exceptions, romance and YA contemporary are on my no-no list for awhile. Who knows, my mood can change on a dime, though.
  • You may have noticed that the blog looks different. I wanted something with more of a summer vibe, so I coerced Kristin into making me a new header. She put up with all my nit picking and bust that beauty out. I love it! I still have some tweaks to make on the blog, though. Check out Kristin’s other work at Sweet Bird Designs.

Well, I think that’s all for now. I have some reviews and a post of my top reads of the year so far scheduled, and I’ll be visiting blogs as often as I can. Hope you all are having a fantastic summer. Um, or a nice winter for you in the southern hemisphere. 😀

And now I leave you with the Hamilton performance from the Tony Awards. ♥

I’m so happy to hear your uncle is dong better, Christy! I hope that will continue.
And I’m with you – the beach is like a charge station for me, too. I just love the sea, the sun, the sand – all of it! It’s so relaxing, and my batteries get a nice boost.
Love your new header! Kristin is very good 🙂 And it’s fun to change things around a little bit 🙂
Here, it still doesn’t feel like summer, it’s quite cool, and it rains a lot. It’s supposed to get warmer and sunnier this week, so I’m crossing my fingers.
Have a wonderful week ahead, I hope you’ find something to read that really appeals to you 🙂

SO PRETTY!! I’m drooling all over your blog right now! Great job, Kristin! 😉 I love how summery and cool it feels.
I’m happy to hear that your uncle is doing better, Christy! I’m excited you’re taking classes. What are you taking them in?
Ahhh I’m so sad you’re not feeling romance anymore! 🙁 I hope you get your romance mojo again.
Anyways, I can’t wait to see what you have in store, and I’m excited to see you’re back. 🙂

  4. I love the new summer look! It screams summertime to me and has a nice beachy theme!

Okay, seriously, I am in the same boat as you with romance and contemporary lately, I am in no mood whatsoever to read one. I have the new CoHo coming up too so I hope I shape up. Of course, her writing is always the exception to that though. Although, did you read her Wattpad story? Can’t remember the title but I wanted to love it and actually didn’t, at least, not like I have all her others. *sigh* We will see I suppose.

Glad your uncle is on the mend and yay for classes! What fun. I’ve been seriously debating going back to school but I don’t think with my girls I have the time right now, but soon. 😉

  5. oh I just love your new header—a perfect summer header. And Kristin does great with design. I have only done my own but its taken me forever to find something I really liked hehe it would have been easier if I had just hired someone to do it. I do tend to do things the hard way though 🙂 So glad you are enjoying your time away, especially at the Beach—and so jealous of you right now. Good luck with your classes.

  6. You were awesome to work with!! I don’t know why you are such a curmudgeon to yourself! If only everyone told me EXACTLY what they wanted so I could DO IT!!!

I can’t wait to hear about your classes!!!! I’m with you, I need to be learning all the time, too. Hence why I blog and I learn coding and how to work all the Adobe software I have crammed on my PC. Need. More. Gadgets!!!! 🙂

That’s amazing news about your uncle, I know it was touch and go there for a while and I’m so relieved for you and the family. I love the new look of your blog, it looks great! Very pretty with al the colorful flowers. And I am glad to hear your uncle is doing better. And that time at the beach seems to have done you well. My mood for reading can also switch very suddenly, I seem to be in a fantasy and sci-fi mood at the moment, but like you said that can change very quickly sometimes. And that’s great you’re still on scheduled for your goodreads challenge.
