Title: Pretty When She Kills
Author: Rhiannon Frater
Published: September 7, 2012
Series: Pretty When She Dies #2
Amaliya Vezorak never believed in happy endings…
When Amaliya harnessed her necromancer powers to defeat her greatest enemy, she believed she had finally found a happy ending with Cian, her lover and the master of Austin. That happiness is short-lived when the vampire ruling over San Antonio attempts a takeover of Austin in order to capture Amaliya and use her power for his own devices.
To make matters worse, Samantha, Cian’s ex-fiancée, is seeing ghosts, the untested vampire hunters of Austin are running scared as a supernatural war looms, a mysterious man is hunting Amaliya with the help of her one time lover, Pete, and Rachoń, the Summoner’s favorite progeny, appears to be out for revenge.
When Amaliya’s grandmother, a powerful medium, experiences terrible visions that reveal there is another necromancer vampire and she is crying out for help, Amaliya realizes happy endings do not come easily…
I read Pretty When She Dies, the first book in the trilogy, about a year ago and loved it! So I was excited to jump into Pretty When She Kills. Honestly, as excited as I was, I tried not to set my expectations too high, because I didn’t want to be let down. Just in case. Thankfully, there was nothing to worry about. PWSK was great! It was gritty and kick-ass, just how I like it.
Amaliya, Cian, Samantha, Jeff, Innocente, and Sergio are all back in PWSK. I love this six pack! Amaliya and Cian are hotter than ever, Sam and Jeff are too stinkin’ cute, and Innocente and Sergio are still fiercely loyal and protective. I have to say, I didn’t care for Sam when I first met her in Pretty When She Dies, but she definitely grew on me by the end. Now, I love the girl! And of course, Amaliya is kicking major ass. There are some new characters, as well, and they’re quite the bunch. I’m looking forward to seeing more of them in the next book, especially Cassandra, a badass dhampir.
It’s been a few months since Amaliya killed The Summoner, but the peace doesn’t last long. Something big is heading to Austin, and everyone is going to be put to the test. Unfortunately, not everyone makes it. It was great getting to know all the characters more, and to go on a crazy ride with them. I admit, Rhiannon totally surprised me with this. I was expecting the story to be pretty straight forward, but she added a nice twist in there.
Overall, this was a great sequel. I can’t wait to see what happens in the 3rd and final book! There is sex and a lot of profanity in this, so you may want to pass if that’s something that bothers you. I definitely recommend this series to people who like their supernatural beings more on the dark and gritty side.

It is my right arm and I’m a righty! Apparently I just pulled or twisted it weird, so it should be better soon. My middle finger still works just fine though.

I really need to read this series! Thanks for offering the giveaway!
I have got to read this series! I keep coming across it and reminding myself but then I forget again. I’m going to just buy it and put it on my TBR pile for Fraterfest at the beginning of October. Great reviews, I think with my own potty mouth, a little profanity will make me feel very comfortable.
