Emily Portman loves her job. A writer for Breakout! Magazine, she shadows and showcases up-and-coming bands. When her next assignment takes her to Austin, Texas, she can’t wait to add the city to her map of places she’s visited. Places she’s left without looking back. Her plan is to keep moving on, and the last thing she needs is a man holding her back. She’s not going down that road again.

Tyler Macy is stuck in a rut. Despite his exceptional talent as a musician, he has chosen to take a backseat with his music and let others grab the limelight. Wounded and mistrustful, he doesn’t appreciate his friends’ efforts to bring him back to center stage. Emily comes onto the scene and sees his full potential, but he fights to stay in the shadows, shutting her out before she can add to the scars another woman gave him.

For Tyler to find his music again, he needs to accept the help that Emily and their friends offer. When he discovers that his muse lies underneath Emily’s skin, it is still not enough to keep her from walking away. Neither will admit what they really want until it is too late.

Emily is once again thrown in Tyler’s path when she is assigned to join them on tour. Despite the pain in his past, Tyler sees that she is worth it, even if she’s stolen both his heart and peace of mind. In order for them to be together, they both must discover whether the music and their passion are enough to overcome the obstacles that separate them.

Maybe finding love is worth the risk.

I’m still on my rock star reading expedition and enjoying every bit of it. I would’ve read Maybe regardless because of the musician angle, but I knew I’d get an emotion filled story from this author after reading Puddle Jumping not too long ago, so it made me that much more excited to read it.

Is Peach a popular nickname rock stars give their women? This is the 2nd book I read within a week featuring a rock star who used that nickname. At least in Maybe there’s an actual reason and story behind it. Anyway, Emily works for a music magazine traveling around the country writing about up and coming bands, which brings her into contact with Tyler and his band.

Maybe did pull through in the feels department! I loved it. It’s a second-chance romance, but what I really like is we get to experience the before and after. Emily and Tyler don’t exactly get off to the best start, and I quite enjoyed their initial hostility towards each other. Ah, but these two are even better together without the hostility, and are definitely smokin’ hot. There’s also a nice dose of humor, which always goes over extremely well with me.

We’re all familiar with the bad boy rockers so prevalent in this genre, but Tyler is a little different. He’s sexy and definitely has the look, but he’s not a bad boy. What I found so enduring about him is how truly devoted he is. It was so easy to feel how good his heart is and made me want to protect it.

I can’t express enough how much I love how the music fit into this. Tyler is sort of a musical genius. He plays various instruments, sings and writes. But the way the music comes to him, the way he hears it … absolutely beautiful. Not going to lie, it’s also sexy as hell.

This really is a wonderful little read. This author has a knack for fitting a full story with a lot of depth into a smaller package.

Cool, I just added the 1st book to my wishlist. That’s cool that each one is inspired by a fairytale.

Me too Christy, me too. Interesting about the Peach nickname, that would not be my first guess as to a nickname of any kind, but maybe that’s the point. It’s not “babe” or “baby” or anything else common:) So glad Tyler isn’t necessarily your typical rocker, I like characters that break stereotype a bit!
