Today I have a post with author Victoria Scott. Her much anticipated book –The Collector– won’t be released until April 2, 2013, but that doesn’t stop us from fangirling/boying over Mr. Dante Walker, right? Well, Victoria is going to to share with us what upcoming books she’s fangirling over. Enjoy!

He makes good girls…bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence has made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple, weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big, red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within 10 days.

Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky, Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect—he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector, and uncover emotions deeply buried.

Today I want to do a little fan-girling. You see, authors are fans too. And we develop mad crushes on fellow authors just like the best of ‘em. So today I’m going to talk about three debut authors dropping books in 2013 and why I’m jazzed as hell to buy their books:

The first is THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR by Mindee Arnett. I had the privilege of reading this several months ago and am still reeling from the story ARC. Mindee has amazing storytelling instincts and a wicked awesome imagination. I feel sure this is going to be a bang up book this year. I’m fangirling.

Sixteen-year-old Dusty Everhart breaks into houses late at night, but not because she’s a criminal. No, she’s a Nightmare.

Literally.

Being the only Nightmare at Arkwell Academy, a boarding school for magickind, and living in the shadow of her mother’s infamy, is hard enough. But when Dusty sneaks into Eli Booker’s house, things get a whole lot more complicated. He’s hot, which means sitting on his chest and invading his dreams couldn’t get much more embarrassing. But it does. Eli is dreaming of a murder.

Then Eli’s dream comes true.

Now Dusty has to follow the clues—both within Eli’s dreams and out of them—to stop the killer before more people turn up dead. And before the killer learns what she’s up to and marks her as the next target.

The next book is ALTERED by Jennifer Rush. I also read this as an ARC and it’s now available to buy. This is one of the most imaginative books I’ve ever read, and the world building is just right. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, too little world-building can leave the story ungrounded, too much will drown the reader. Jennifer nails it and gives us four gorgeous, invigorating boys to boot. Again…fangirling.

When you can’t trust yourself, who can you believe?

Everything about Anna’s life is a secret. Her father works for the Branch at the helm of its latest project: monitoring and administering treatments to the four genetically altered boys in the lab below their farmhouse. There’s Nick, Cas, Trev . . . and Sam, who’s stolen Anna’s heart. When the Branch decides it’s time to take the boys, Sam stages an escape, killing the agents sent to retrieve them.

Anna is torn between following Sam or staying behind in the safety of her everyday life. But her father pushes her to flee, making Sam promise to keep her away from the Branch, at all costs. There’s just one problem. Sam and the boys don’t remember anything before living in the lab—not even their true identities.

Now on the run, Anna soon discovers that she and Sam are connected in more ways than either of them expected. And if they’re both going to survive, they must piece together the clues of their past before the Branch catches up to them and steals it all away.

The last one, but certainly not the least, is THE DOLLHOUSE ASYLUM by Mary Gray. I haven’t read this baby yet, but am already asking (read: pestering) Mary for it. Among a lot of other cool stuff that goes down in this book, there’s this: each couple at Elysian Fields is renamed to reflect the most tragic romances ever told. Yes. Just, yes. Give me this book. Fangirling.

A virus that had once been contained has returned, and soon no place will be left untouched by its destruction. But when Cheyenne wakes up in Elysian Fields–a subdivision cut off from the world and its monster-creating virus–she is thrilled to have a chance at survival.

At first, Elysian Fields, with its beautiful houses and manicured lawns, is perfect. Teo Richardson, the older man who stole Cheyenne’s heart, built it so they could be together. But when Teo tells Cheyenne there are tests that she and seven other couples must pass to be worthy of salvation, Cheyenne begins to question the perfection of his world.

The people they were before are gone. Cheyenne is now “Persephone,” and each couple has been re-named to reflect the most tragic romances ever told. Everyone is fighting to pass the test, to remain in Elysian Fields. Teo dresses them up, tells them when to move and how to act, and in order to pass the test, they must play along.

If they play it right, then they’ll be safe.

But if they play it wrong, they’ll die.

Thanks for sharing your fangirl love, Victoria! I have The Nightmare Affair and will read it soon. Altered has only recently made it on my radar, but I’m looking forward to reading it. The Dollhouse Asylum sounds so flippin’ good! And I Can’t forget to fangirl over Dante! 😀
