Samantha Dunbar needs to forget Gibson Andrews. When he trained her to be a domme, she experienced just how hot things could get with the sexy executive. She was ready to hand him everything—including her heart. But Gibson backed away, declaring them incompatible. He’s a dominant, and Sam’s no submissive.
But after an attack shakes Sam to her core, Gibson tracks her down at her family’s rundown farmhouse and makes her an offer. He’ll stay the week and be hers in every way—a helping hand for the renovation and a willing lover in her bed. He swore he’d never give up control to anyone again, but he hasn’t been able to touch another woman since Sam. Maybe a week alone with her will cure him of his relentless craving.
But one taste only makes them want more, and Sam and Gibson are drawn in deeper than ever. The man who won’t give in has just met the girl who won’t give up…
Hot damn, Break Me Down was good! I haven’t read all of the books in Loving on the Edge series yet, but this is definitely one of my favorites.
I love all the different relationship and kink dynamics Loren writes about, but the ones featuring a Domme tops them all. So to speak. Especially when her counterpart is an alpha-male type. Even more so when he’s a challenge. And that’s what I got with Samantha and Gibson. Both are dominant … or so Gibson thinks he is. Insert evil grin here.
These two are quite the pair. They push each other in ways they both need to be pushed, emotionally and physically. It was so much fun watching them work everything out, and very touching and sweet at times. Really, the romance was wonderfully done.
And oh man, were they ever smokin’ hot and sexy as hell. I swear, Loren is a master at writing BDSM. This isn’t all sex, sex, sex though. Yes, it is erotica and gets into the kink, but the plot and the characters actually have depth. Plus, there’s a nice dose of humor that totally bumped it up even more for me.
Seriously, Break Me Down is so freaking good! Everything about it! I highly suggest it even if it isn’t a dynamic you’re usually into, because it’s still a fantastic book. And you just might be surprised.

Roni Loren is good??? I’ve seen her EVERYWHERE but I was never sure about her. That and I don’t get Intermix titles (grumble, grumble).
“Domme tops them all”… you so funny! I haven’t read a domme story. Will I like this? I’m thinkin’ I would 😀
Great review!

She’s amaaaazing! Dude, read Call on Me. That one is soooo good. Pike is the MC and is my favorite character of the series. He makes an appearance in this book, which contrubuted to most of the humor. And the heroine of Call on Me has an autistic daughter. Seriously, read it. And this one.

Bought “Call on Me”! This one isn’t available to “librarians” on NetGalley (grrrrrr). See, not always good to use my connections (damn). Thanks!!!

From your review it seems that I wouldn’t have to read all the books before this one. I’ve seen them around, just haven’t really tried to read any. I may give the first one a shot. Great review!

I need to try this author, it is why I like Dawson’s BDSM books..they have the kink/heat, but the stories and characters have depth. I love that you haven’t read all the books and that this works as standalone.

I’m glad that this one had a story besides sex, Christy. That’s always one of my fears while reading erotica. I haven’t read this author before, but it sounds like she’s good at what she does!
Fab review!

I don’t like BDSM but I have some of her books, I’ve read praise everywhere, so I guess I’ll give her a try soonish 😉

As long as there is more to it than smex, then I’ll give it a go. I might have to read this author. Brilly review!

That’s good, too much/many sex is tedious to read sometimes.

This sounds both hot and quite fun, Christy! I haven’t read all that many stories involving BDSM, but Tiffany Reisz series made me want to find another series where the characters make the story, and the kink and the hotness is just a part of it – maybe an important part – and where there isn’t only sex and kink. Did that make any sense at all? I’m adding Roni Loren’s books to my TBR shelf, though, you definitely convinced me!
I think what appeals to me the most is that Gabriel thinks he’s a dominant, and that Samantha will probably show him how wrong he is.
Great review!

Glad you really loved this one! I don’t mind sex in books, but I also like to hear that there is an actual story in there – so yay!

Your review was so entertaining, but I totally agree with your thoughts on the story. I love her stuff, too! She writes a story and not just kinky heat.

I’m pretty picky about it, but Roni Loren is the author to trust when it comes to it. Try Call on Me. It’s hot and so freaking good, but it doesn’t really incorporate BDSM.

I haven’t read the first one, but I’m familiar with the characters from their appearances in the books I have read. Nothing Between Us and Call on me are both AMAZING. Call on Me has my favorite character.

It’s good when an author actually writes a story line, not just sex scenes! This sounds good, and I love how Gibson thinks he’s a Domme!
