When I looked up, his smile was wide and real. “Ready?” he said.
I faked a smile back. I had gotten so good at faking things.
I thought: You brought this on yourself, Sasha. You will have to pretend forever now.
He squeezed my hand again. He couldn’t begin to imagine what this actually was. He had no idea what I’d done. What any of us had. When Sasha’s best friend Xavier gets back together with his cheating ex, Ivy, Sasha knows she needs to protect him. So she poses as a guy online to lure Ivy away.
But Sasha’s plan goes sickeningly wrong. And she soon learns to be careful of who you pretend to be because you might be surprised by who you become…
You know I can’t resist the bad girls! 😀
Actually, that isn’t a joke. So of course, I snagged this baby.
What are you willing to do to protect your best friend? Sasha decides to prove Xavier’s ex-girlfriend is still a lying, cheating, manipulative bitch person, but things take a very dark turn.
Okay, so this wasn’t the most outstanding story, but it is good. It has a mystery that’s predictable, but that’s totally fine in this case. Because even though you know who and what, it’s the flawed, destructive characters and the how that pulls you in. Plus, It has that addictive something that makes it impossible to put down. I’m not sure if the author intended it to have a bit of a dark humor element to it or if it’s just me, but I felt like it did.
Overall, it’s a quick, enjoyable read with a dark side.
Yes, sometimes the compelling characters and situations make a mediocre mystery shine. This does sound good, Christy!

I have not read much in the way of catfishing in fiction, but I do love a bad girl!

Sounds like a relatively good, quick read! And yay for some dark humor – even if the author didn’t intend it. haha

I do like a story with “bad” characters. I somehow missed this one until it was actually released. I may have to grab it at the library at some point.

You got so lucky finding this book! Dark humor is so your thing, right?? I hadn’t noticed this book and all, creepy gross cover and all. And as long as it’s a quick read, I’m all for lower quality 😉 Sometimes a quick fix is great!! I wish I could write reviews short and sweet like you *sigh* 🙂

It may not exactly be meant as dark humor, but I found humor in it. 😀
Gotta love a dark side. Hm… I might have passed on this one but now you have me curious!

I actually really loved this book. It’s not my norm – I am the light and fluffy reader, but I though the writing was amazing and the story, as you said, addictive. Some great twists bought it up a notch as well.
Great review here darling. I just love those character driven books and even though the plot is a bit predictable, as long as the characters are full on engaging, it doesn’t matter that much right? Glad you enjoyed it.

I love darker reads that are on the messy side. Give me flawed, messed up characters any day. If anything, this could be a cautionary tale for those catfishing online or to stop the naive being taken advantage of. It feels as though it has a Dangerous Girls vibe going on as well. Looking forward to grabbing a copy Christy, great review! <3

I do like bad girls…sometimes. 😉 But when an author can keep me engaged in the story despite knowing the answers early on…that’s a story I can get invested in. 🙂
